About the Registrar's Office
Our job at the Registrar of Vital Statistics is to maintain records of births, deaths, marriages, civil unions, and domestic partnerships that occur only in the Township of Raritan in compliance with the state of New Jersey guidelines.
To serve you better, please schedule an appointment when applying for a marriage/civil union application. The state has several requirements around documentation, waiting periods and the like and we've found we are much more successful guiding you through the process when we can talk to you about the steps required.
An appointment is also recommended for all amendments regarding births, deaths, marriages, civil unions, and domestic partnerships.
Certified copies of a Township of Raritan vital record may be purchased by mail, or over the counter in our office; $25 per certified copy for all certified copies other than death certificates which are $10 per certified copy – cash, check or credit card payments (fee applies) will be accepted. By law and for your protection, we can only provide vital records for qualified applicants who must provide proper identification, and may need to provide additional documentation to establish that relationship to the vital record requested.
