Food Waste Recycling Program

Raritan Township Wins $10,000 Grant for Residential Food Waste Recycling

Raritan Township was awarded a $10,000 Sustainable Jersey grant funded by the PSEG Foundation to run a pilot residential food waste recycling program. Managed by the Township’s Environmental Commission, the grant will fund the creation of food waste drop off locations at the Dvoor and Stangl farmer’s markets and the NOFA winter market at Lenape Park.

How Does It Work?

  1. Collect your household food waste (uneaten leftovers, peelings & spoiled), preferably in a container with a tight lid
  2. Bring your container to the farmers market on days they are open, between the hours of 9:00 AM and Noon
  3. We’ll collect your food waste and bring it to a local farm for composting

We also will be providing information on backyard composting and other ways to reduce food waste.
